The Examination Procedure

  • To get through the NHM exam, the aspirant has to pass through three exams as a part of the recruitment process.
  • The first part is the screening, then comes the written exam and the third part consists of document verification.
  • One must keep in mind that all the details that the candidate had provided while filling in the application form online must be true, because a discrepancy at this stage might lead to the cancellation of candidature.

Let us now have a look at the syllabus for the NHM exam.

The Syllabus —Tough but Doable

The syllabus for the exam is not much different from the other competitive exams that candidates take all through the year. The first topic is domain knowledge, which means that considerable marks are devoted towards examining the actual knowledge the aspirant has.

This would be the primary criterion and the most important one, and it goes without saying that the candidate would have to score really well in this area in order to impress the examiners. Next comes the General English section. This is in no way less important because the aspirant might have to deal with official documents, and have to participate in board meetings that would require the candidate to be fluent and expressive.

This is why a sound knowledge of the English Language is a must for the aspirants, and they must prepare throughout the course of the year to get the hang of the English grammar so that he/she can deal with the trick questions that often confuse the candidates. The General Knowledge and Reasoning section would not be much difficult to handle if the candidate keeps a tab on the important events happening in the country and in the world. Reading the newspaper daily is a good way to keep things in mind and be aware of the current events. To be proficient in the Reasoning problems requires much practice on the part of the candidate, and he/she must work hard to learn this skill.
