The Staff Selection Commission was founded on 4th November in the year 1975 Govt of India constituted a commission known as Subordinate Service Commission. On 26th September in the year 1977, Subordinate Services Commission was renamed as Staff Selection Commission. SSC has its headquarters is situated at New Delhi. Currently, it has seven Regional offices at Kolkata, Allahabad, Mumbai, Guwahati, Chennai, & Bangalore. It also has 2 Sub- Regional offices at Raipur and Chandigarh.
