About Trichy Anna University
Anna University Tiruchirappalli otherwise Trichy Anna University Chennai – Regional Office, BIT Campus, Tiruchirappalli, erstwhile Anna University of Technology, is a technical university department of Anna University, It is situated on Tiruchirappalli-Pudukkottai National Highway 336, TN, India. It was formed in the year 1999 as a part of Bharathidasan University with five departments, Bio-Technology, Petrochemical Technology, Paper and Pulp Technology, Information Technology and Pharmaceutical Technology. In the year 2007, due to management constraints Anna University was split into 6 universities, namely: Anna University Chennai – Regional Office, Tiruchirappalli; Anna University Chennai – Regional Office, Anna University, Chennai; Anna University, Chennai – Taramani Campus; Coimbatore; Anna University Chennai – Regional Office, Madurai; Anna University Chennai – Regional Office, Tirunelveli. The government acquired this campus from Bharathidasan University and renamed it as Anna University Tiruchirappalli in the year 2007.The Anna University University is an accredited university with powers to grant affiliations to colleges and universities organizing UG and PG studies, as well as diploma courses and is so recognized by the University Grants Council.
